What to Know About Requesting Public Information

The Public Information Act does not require a governmental body to create new information, do legal research or answer questions, and the request must be for records already in existence. The governmental body has 10 business days to respond to the request (day one is the first business day following the receipt of the request). Detailed information regarding The Public Information Act may be found in the Open Government section at the Texas Attorney General’s Website.

You may request public information by email, postal mail, fax, or by dropping off the request at our office at: 4808 Elizabeth St. Texarkana, TX 75503 Monday-Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

If you need additional information, please call 903-832-8636 and ask for the Deputy Director.

Please Note: ATCOG reserves the right to withhold any requested information that is exempt from public disclosure under the Public Information Act or any other applicable law. If ATCOG seeks a disclosure exception from the Texas Attorney General, you will be notified.
